- Washington State Department
of Transportation. Led the team that developed a winter maintenance
plan and an RWIS siting plan for the WSDOT North Central Region.
- National Cooperative Highway
Research Program (NCHRP) project 20-7(117). Documented the benefits
and costs of anti-icing and RWIS.
- AURORA Program project.
Documented weather and road condition dissemination methods and formats,
established best practices, and set the stage for standards development.
- TRB ITS IDEA project ITS-79.
Headed the team that conducted a study to determine the feasibility
of automatically closing roads for flash flooding.
- TRB ITS IDEA project ITS-90.
Developed and conducted a successful demonstration of a flash flood
warning system. Test system displayed at the TRB Annual Meeting, January
2002.
- Arizona Department of Transportation
project, Winter Storm Maintenance Operations. Led the team that conducted
a wall-to-wall review of snow and ice control operations with emphasis
on RWIS. Prepared a Winter Maintenance Plan and an RWIS siting plan.
- FHWA FORETELL™ project.
Provided senior analyst/meteorological support to the Battelle Memorial
Institute evaluation team.
- Iowa Department of Transportation.
Part of team that developed and provided performance-based anti-icing
training.
- NCHRP project 6-13, Guidelines
for Snow and Ice Control Methods and Materials. Provided meteorological
support to the Midwest Research Institute project team.
- Idaho Transportation Department
project, Optimal Roadway Weather Information System. Enhanced a plan
developed by ITD.
- National Cooperative Highway
Research Program (NCHRP) project 20-7(83), Guide for Snow and Ice Control.

AASHTO Snow and Ice Control pooled fund (SICOP) project development.
Member, AASHTO Lead States Team for Anti-icing/RWIS, which dissolved
in September 2000.
- Technical Advisor to the
Vice Commander, Air Weather Service, and the Air Force Chief of Staff-directed
Severe Weather Integrated Process Team project that reviewed USAF severe
weather warning development, warning dissemination, and resource protection
efforts.
